Documents to gather before requesting help

The more a contractor can see up front, the more accurate their assessment can be. You do not need everything on this list to request help, but gathering what you can saves time for everyone.

Essential

  • A clear copy or photo of every page of the notice, order, or summons
  • The property address and the issuing agency
  • Any compliance or hearing dates
  • Photos of each cited condition

Helpful

  • Permit history printout from the building department
  • Existing plans, surveys, or previous permit drawings
  • Prior contracts, invoices, or correspondence with any contractor involved
  • Inspection reports, including from a home purchase
  • Correspondence with the inspector or issuing office

What not to send

How to share them

You can upload your notice through the form on our home page and describe the situation. We use the information to review your inquiry; see our privacy policy for how submissions are handled.
